    Hi!
    First time watching you :)
    You might have had help with your thump problem on those mitts. But what you do is that those 19 st is going to rest on the scrap yarn tread, and you join to knit in the round with those 44 (?) st you had when you casted on. So when you try it on you'll have a hole for the thumb :) And when you shall knit the thumb you pick up the st from the tread and maybe a few a were it meets the hand.
